Belle's catching silvery fluff.

Hello! And welcome to our website. We - Anna & Peter - live in Gothenburg, situatet in the south west of Sweden. Our small cattery consists for the moment of six cats; Nike, Flibberty, Aella, Maia, Tonto and Belle. Belle is our old lady, she has been a part of the house hold since long before we had any plans for breedeng or showing cats. Nike, Maia and Aella are our breeding queens. Nike has had two litters, Aella and Maia are doughters of Nike, Aella had her first litter in Mars 2012 and Maia is expecting kittens right now. Tonto is our spayed stud and father to Aella and Maia. He's looking for a replacement home. Flibberty is Tontos sister, she was ment to be part of our breeding program, but that did not happen. She's now neutered and a dear pet in the family.

We are fairly new as cat breeders and have so far had four litters. We have had all the luck and the uppbringing of the litters have been almost problem free and also great fun.

Our focus is on ruddy (usual) abyssinians, that's the colour we think is the most beautiful, even if it's sometimes nice with variation. Healt and temper comes first of course and all our cats are screened for PRA and Pk-deficienty. When it comes to looks, we want our abyssinians to be high and elegant but still atletic and well muscled. And since we are two, we are not always by the same oppinion.

We practice early spay and neutering on our kittens that are sold as pets, i. e. they are spayed/neutered before they leave our cattery.

Peter is an avid cat photographer, there are lot of pictures of abyssinians and other cats to, to look at, at his Flickr pages. If you click on any of the photos below, it will get you there.

A little bit about abyssinians in Sweden

The first abyssinians came to Sweden from England in the 1950ies.

There are about 200 abyssinians registered in the main Swedish cat fancies organisation - SVERAK - each year. SVERAK is a part of FIFe. Other organisations affiliated with TICA and CFA does exist but are negligible. SVERAK does not recognise any unusual colours, i.e. chocolates, lilac or sex-linked red. We don't know about any unusual coloured abys being imported to Sweden at all.

Since far from all are used in breeding, 200 cats are a bit on the small side, to maintain a healty breeding population. So import of cats are essential.

Since Sweden is free from rabies we have made it extra complicated to travel to Sweden with cats, they must not only we vaccinated against rabies, but they also have to go throu a bloodcheck three months after the vaccination, to make sure they have developted enough antibodies. This makes the import and export from the continent a bit harder. Harmonizing the rules with the rest of the EU will make this special excemtion go away in 2012.

There are no restrictions traveling to Norway and the cooperation with Norwegian breeders are good. Most other imports are from Denmark and Germany and lately it's been American lines that has been coming in this way.
